July 27, 2009 - Is God Knowable?

God is so good. God is so great. God is holy. God is righteous. God is worthy and we can know Him in a personal way.  In our finite minds we cannot totally comprehend His greatness.  Scripture tells us, “Great is the Lord and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.” Ps. 147:5  Given our limited intellectual capability, we can still appreciate many of His traits.

He allows us to know and experience Him through a variety of sources. 

We can know Him through Creation:  “The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands.” Psalm 19:1 Any time spent examining creation leads many to consider that an Intelligent Designer lies behind all that they see.

We can know Him through Jesus:  “No one has ever seen God,” but through Jesus, he has made Him known. John 1:18 Get to know Jesus, and you will learn what God is like.

We can know God through the Bible:  “These things are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:30-31 The Bible is the story of God. Read the Bible and you’ll know more of Him.
