Church Spotlight
First Christian Church: Sandpoint, ID
First Christian Church recently held their men’s ministry kickoff event, showing the movie “Facing the Giants” and presenting their plans for ministry to men over the next 12 months. After they watched the movie, they surveyed the men attending using one of the tools we provided them, offered the men attending some clear “next steps” and got some great results.
Their attendees rated the event a 9 out of 10, and the direction of the men’s ministry a 9 out of 10. 46% of the men indicated interest in a men’s small group and 61% said they could volunteer 1-2 hours a week to support men’s ministry. They threw nerf balls in the sanctuary and men of all ages joined in and had a great time!
When asked by their pastor at the end of the event how many felt they could invite someone to an event like this one, 100% of the men raised their hands.
Lessons from First Christian:
- Make your kickoff event fun and interactive
- Survey the men so you learn from your guys and scratch where they itch
- Develop programs that take advantage of men’s passions and interest areas - you will have a more attractive program if you do
- Give them clear next-steps – a bible study to join, a next event to invite a friend to, etc.
