Men’s Ministry Best Practices: Avoiding Common Failures

Don't Let Men's Fear of Failure Hinder your Ministry to Men

When we talk with churches about translating God's vision given to the senior pastor into a vibrant ministry for and to men, we realize that what hinders forward progress for many is men's natural fear of failure.

We must create an environment that mirrors Jesus in our churches, and failure is inevitable. So we encourage to you "fail fast" and learn from the mistakes. Let mercy and grace be obvious and flow through to the men. This spirit of grace needs to be modeled in your leadership team and experienced in every aspect of your ministry.

One of the top reasons men don't volunteer is they're afraid of looking foolish and stupid.  We must foster a fun, positive, challenging environment for men. And take advantage of our program outlines so your men are organized for success.  Why are men willing to do death-defying hobbies, but are afraid to do a program at church? Because of church people: they fear the pointing and mocking. But when you breed a ministry environment that is filled with love, laughter and support, you'll find more men willing to step in and step up. Make it safe - and make it easier for them to succeed by being organized!
